Voice for Healing and Change
Throughout the State of Alaska, the crisis of domestic and sexual violence runs deep, but behind every number is a real person. When I first shared a small part of my story on Facebook, I didn’t expect much. But the response was immediate. Friends and even strangers reached out, not just with support but with stories of their own. That moment showed me the impact one voice could have and how many others were still silently carrying their pain, unsure of how or if they could speak.
That’s why Mighty AK was created. Not just to share my story but to help others do the same. Our lived experiences are more than personal; they’re powerful. They can educate, influence policy, and support the work of advocates, community organizations, and lawmakers fighting to make Alaska safer. Survivors know what’s broken and what needs fixing. When we speak, we bring truth into the room, and truth has the power to change everything.
But speaking out should never come at the cost of your healing. It’s important to be in a place where sharing doesn’t set you back but lifts you up. If you’re starting to feel ready, keep reading. The pages ahead will help you prepare to share your story with strength, clarity, and purpose because Alaska needs your voice.
