When Survivors Speak, Communities Listen

When healing begins, survivors often find something they thought they’d lost, their voice. Our voices carry the strength of what we’ve been through, and the courage it takes to no longer stay silent. Speaking out isn’t only about our own healing. It’s also about helping others feel less alone and showing our communities what needs to change. We can do this!

What we’ve lived through matters. Our experiences aren’t just painful memories; they hold truths and lessons that others need to hear. When we share them, we raise awareness in ways numbers and reports never can. We show the real impact of abuse and trauma, and why silence is no longer an option.

Our voices can also guide the way forward. They can help create safer neighborhoods, schools, and communities throughout Alaska. They can also remind leaders why it’s so important to act and protect future generations of Alaskans.

But most of all, our stories connect us all. They can remind someone still in the dark that healing is possible, and it is! And they remind us that change doesn’t just live in ideas, it grows every time one of us chooses to speak out.

Our voices matter here. On the pages ahead, you’ll see how we can use that strength by raising awareness, talking openly, promoting safety, and inspiring change together.

Raise Awareness

Understanding the issues is key; many lack awareness. Those of us with lived experiences are experts in speaking up and educating others.
